Default '06 rear seat vs '05

My wife doesn't like the seat on the 1000rr as much as she did the 954rr -- the new seat is flatter and harder.

So, I'm thinking of buying a seat and adding some padding to it.

Does the '05 seat fit the '06? Honda has different part #s, but the dealer says it could be material or other minor change that dictates a new part #.

Or is there another non-$250 Corbin option?

The '06 is supposed to have new, softer seat foam. I would assume that passenger seat would have the same softer foam.

Regardless, an '04/'05 seat will fit on an '06.

I've been there, done that. I have an 05 bike and put an 06 seat on it and it's much more comfortable. However, the rear seat was equally hard on both bikes. I also installed heli bars and this made the bike more comfortable for both me and my wife to ride together on it.

Thanks for the replies. Although I put "rear seat" in the title, I wasn't clear in the actual post.

I'm comfortable on the rider seat. But then I was comforable on the 954 seat that many people said was too hard.

I'm looking to do something about the rear seat on my '06 1000rr. Since '05 seats are available cheap, I was hoping to buy one, add some padding, and put it on the bike when my wife rides with me. I'll keep my stock '06 seat and leave it on the rest of the time.

Sounds like p166mmx73 answered the question though that the 'old' seats fit on the 'new' bike.
