Question Would Like to get luggage for a 87'

http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade...ctview/142/136 Ok I have used the almighty google and searched this site for some luggage made for my 87' Cane. I have found the GIVI 155 and N140 on twistedthrottle.com. Can any one tell me what the 155 and the N140 is and why I need them. Thanks

TtHIS IS GOOGLE FOR givi 155 AND 140

http://www.google.co.za/search?clien...=Google+Search

You may want to fit a set of "soft" bags to start with - they are much cheaper and if you don't intend to use them too often, they work well. Hard luggage is great (I have Nonfango luggage - 3 x 48 litre boxes) and you can carry a helluva lot of stuff. EXPENSIVE compared to soft luggage as they are mostly imported from Europe

Here's my 90 with "elephant extras"

I have seen photo's of your Cane, looks good. I have "soft" luggage now. I have looked Flebay and seen a unversal kit and the 89-?? Cane's mounts. But some say they need the wing rack also. is the wing rack just for the truck and the kits for the bags. I wanted to call GIVI this week, but would like to sound like I know what I am talking about since they don't make nothing for my Cane. Thanks

The wing rack is what the bags attach to. You can get a three-bag setup with turn signals (N140) or without turn signals (N141). You can also get a two bag set-up with turn signals (N150) or without signals (N151).

So if you were to take a N140 and install it without the top bag mount and without the turn lamps, you would end up with a N151.

Givi makes one wing rack. It is used to mount bags to many makes of bikes. You need a mounting system to adapt it to your bike. If I wanted to use my wing rack on a different bike I would need to get the mounting kit for that bike. The CBR1000F mounting kit is the Y155.

This kit is for just a top bag.

From what I can tell the mounting kit is for 1989 and up.
If you wanted to go with Give you would have to ask them if the universal kit (Y127) would work for you.

The following is from the cyclesaddles.com website:

"The most asked question here is: "what is the difference between a MonoKey case and a MonoLock case"? Simply stated, the MonoKey series is the top of the line series with a more substantial mount, more features, and better quality construction. MonoKey mounts are sold seperately.
The MonoLock cases are generally a smaller and lighter top case with a smaller mount and lock up. Consider MonoLock cases for "light duty" applications. MonoLock cases are sold with a universal mount included."

The MonoLock uses a catch system where the tang on the bag slips under the open slot in the top plate.

The MonoKey uses a catch system where the tangs on the top or side plates slip into the bag.

MonoKey bags will not attach to a MonoLock plate and MonoLock bags will not work with MonoKey plates.

Thanks Timbuc, if those two plates are for the same size bag. To me the monolock seems it would be more securily attached to the bike

My MonoKey bags lock in tight. I have not tried to wiggle a MonoLock bag as of yet. I think the opposite of you as I don't know how a tang would lock in tight until I see one.
