RE: wheel? widder?
hi bud no u can not fit a sc24 rim into a 87 swing arm u would have to do some serous moding ie get a sc24 swing arm (fitted to 89 bikes onward) and fit that to your bike first then slip in the sc24 wheel and tire. If u decide to do it have fun and show us the pics all my best wishes ric

RE: wheel? widder?
Hi:
I put wider 5.5x17/180 rear and 3.50 x 17/120 frnt from the newer 93-00 CBR 1000f bike on my 88 with some changes. I went to the newer
forks, fender and swingarm as well as brakes/wheels, but I got a wrecked donor bike and it mostly just bolted up ( I had to make some brackets)
changing from the old 1kf1 88 bodywork to the newer 93 up was a bigger problem time wise as it all has to fit just right and I had to make a bunch
of brackets and mods to the rear frame to get it to work. the 90/91 cbr brakes work with the forks and swingarm from 90/91 on the 87/89 bikes,
almost as a bolt in upgrade as the bikes are not all that different. Just make sure the donor is in good nick and not all bent up and you should be
fine with a little mechanical knowledge.

Yes, you can install a wider set of wheels (front and rear) from say a 1000f early 90's and they will fit in the 87 front fork and rear swing arm. I did it about 5 years ago and it works great! I HIGHLY recommend changing both the front and rear wheel though as they are matched for road contact area. Changing just one may result it an odd handling characteristic at certain lean angles. Not fun!
Mods you'll need to do are simple:
• Change the wheel spacer sizes left and right
• Bend the rear brake caliper upper arm to fit around new wheel.
• Lose the rear inner fender ( tire won't fit into it)
I used the 87 rear wheel cush drive and sprocket without problem.
Biggest thing you' probably need to do for the front wheel change is the speedo cable and front sprocket cover as the newer wheel does not have the speedo cable input. Honda moved it to the front sprocket cover. An early 90's sprocket cover should fit as well.
I went to a bicycle digital speedo/Odometer/Tripometer. Works like a champ and is more accurate and was less hassle.
Drop me a line if you have questions. I'll try to answer what I can. It's been a while since I did it.
