Seen a Castrol Power RS GPS Full Synth here in the US Dylan in PEPBOYS

& If ya really want to be breaking the Piggy Bank Power RS4 4T is available too.

Actually a quick look ever on M C Spr Store lists them there.........incl a cheap Synth blend version

All told and 11 dollar gallon on good ole Rotella T Dino is just fine with me

I wish I had a pepboys nearby, actually. All I have is an Advance Auto. They have next to nothing for bikes. (overpriced/crappy fram moto filters and 1 type of overpriced Valvoline moto oil... )

Pepboys is advertising the $11.99 castrol car oil/filter special right now and I'd like to stock up!

Considering how I'll be riding..... I don't know how well that would work out.

AA sells the 5qt Castrol oils for $10.99 on occasion, and last time I stocked up, each bottle came with a free castrol hat. Cheapest hat in the world, but it works well for a disposable oil rag....

I dont know anything about Rotella but the Castrol stuff is dear and retails about $52 AUD for 4 litres. The fully synthetic is around $75. I was lucky enough to score 37 x 1 litre bottles of it for $8 a litre at an auction where a local bike shop closed down. One litre bottles retail at $19 a litre ! Filters run about $22 for a Hi Flo but I get em on Fleabay from the UK landed at my door for around $15. The stealer is a rip off. I spend good money on oil cause bike engines work hard and deserve the best you can give them.

Wow, Bordo! That's quite a bit of money.
The Rotella T synthetic is about $5/qt here. I've also used Amsoil Moto, but I thought that was too expensive when it went up from like $8 to $9.50/qt.
The filters I'm using are either about $4 for the standard or $6 for the higher end.
The KLR also gets Rotella oil, but I just buy the hi-flo filters from bike bandit and they come out to about $3.50 each shipped when you buy like 8 or so....

I spend good money on oil cause bike engines work hard and deserve the best you can give them.
That's why I buy Rotella!

That's bike-specific oil you're talkin' 'bout there. It's always way expensive. The Rotella is diesel truck oil, and it's among the very highest quality oils that can be had for any internal combustion motor.

There's a TON of research to be done here and elsewhere, so if you want to save some money, do some Googling, and you might end up deciding that spending the extra $ has no utility.

Personally, after many samples of many oils that I've sent to Blackstone Labs for their analysis, I use Rotella-T synth in everything (even my race bikes) and have for 10+ years and a low/mid 6 figure number of miles. Works great, lasts a long time.

Here's a link for you to do some reading if you're interested.

Interesting reading there Doc.

On the Castrol thing even though I just put Rotella T in 2 weeks ago ........

Walked outta Pepboys yesterday, also, with a Gallon of Castrol 4T 20w/50 bike specific oil (jaso etc. etc.) $15.99 ......plan on putting a heavier weight oil in for the hot weather & summer riding from mid May on !

The Castrol Full Synth 4T was 10.99 a quart ....so that woulda been 44 bucks ...so
opted for the cheaper route as usual.

Also after extensive research got a NAPA 1356 (WIX 51356) filter not the usual 1358 (WIX51358)
has same thread size , can OD ..but is longer , higher GPM flow rate (9 - 11) & almost same BETA
flow rates.(aka Particulate Efficiency)......Higher Burst Rating too

That s a great deal...also is a top-shelf oil for sure...and with Rotella-T synth being $23/gal now at my local Wally World, this is worth a look.

Default Rotella

One reason I switch to Rotella syn. was cause of this FORUM. I do not know why I did not think of it myself. Most people change there oil every 3000 miles in there cars and motorcycles. I change my oil in my 2004 Freightliner Columbia every 10,000 to 12,000 miles and I have gone to 15,000 miles before an oil change. I have always used Rotella in it, not the synthetic stuff,, it holds 10 gals. I have some friends that have never change there oil since the day they bought there trucks and they use the Rotella syn. I have always had my truck dyno'd every year and she still puts out 500 horse's ... Must trucks here in the states run 24/7 none stop. That is pretty tuff on an engine. Since the oil is the blood of an engine, and thru all the treads of this forum. That is why I changed my oil brand to Rotella Syn. Plus a good filter helps alot too.
