A follow up...I switched brands of gasoline and mileage is back up. 3 tanks now with 39 mpg avg. Would have been higher but I got stuck in traffic for 2 hours and lane splitting is ILLEGAL here (ask me how I know). I haven't gotten to the carb sync yet, but I did get a sync tool.

87 octane, Murphy Oil (Walmart) is the best average so far. The best mileage for a tank was Flying J (truckstop) at 44mpg, but I"m sure that was because it was all freeway miles. I"m going to start trying different brands next couple of fillups. The problem around here is just because it says "Shell" on the sign doesn"t mean Shell is the gasoline manufacturer. A lot of the stations get their gasoline from the same distributer that may or may not be a major brand or manufacturer. I"m going to have to start asking who their distributer is and compare those.

Be an interesting exercise, that - we have a similar problem here - all the gas comes from the same refinery, just rebranded to suit. The whole thing's a farce....!

Last month I was in Augusta, Ga (USA), there was a shortage of gas. All the gas on the east cost comes from the same pipeline from the refineries. It is piped to distribution centers where the the brand puts there finishing touches on it and labels it their own.

CBR1000F Fuel Consumption - Last 10,000Km - Australian - Many Suppliers.

Notes:
1. Using Regular Unleaded Petrol - 91 RON min (Standards = http://www.aip.com.au/pdf/fuel_%20regs.pdf)
2. Tried Premium UP - 95 RON min = made no difference to "power" or fuel Consumption.

Yep, about 16 K's per litre - same as mine. Gets a bit more after a service.
