Default Web hosting?

Hiya folks.

A little while ago I purchased the www.cbr1000f.net domian name with the intention of making a resource page for us. Plus it was a work exercise to try out google apps

At the moment google is hosting it for me, but the web features are very basic and you cant host files like the manuals etc.

But there is so many places that host pages it is overwelming.

Considering I need to host about 200-500mb total, does anyone net savvy know what I need to look for in Web Hosting?

Thanks
Rob

I believe that to be able to give adequate counseling regarding web hosting, one would need to know more about your requirements and plans for www.cbr1000f.net

Aspects worth considering might be usage of databases, server side scripting, access to shell accounts, hard disk space, customer support, available tools and available bandwidth.

I understood about 1/2 of that!

Basically, all I want to do is mirror/host any articles, how-tos, manuals etc

Something very basic. Nothing flashy, there is plenty of other pages for htat. Just the stuuf ya need if you own one of these bikes. Basically, just text & pics.

http://www.brinkster.com

They are $4 per month with asp.net support (web-based database technologies)
I have never used them, so this is not a direct recommendation

You probably just want a basic website and pdf/doc/xls & pic+videosstuff uploaded

The following web hosters should all be able to provide you with what you need:

http://www.surftown.com/
£1.99/mo
http://www.godaddy.com/
~$3.60/mo
http://www.surpasshosting.com/
$6/mo

Okay guys have been toying with posting up a small portion of the book I am writing. I was prodded by several other members to pursue this venture. But would like some legitimate feedback, so I'm thinking the best way to do this would be to host it somewhere. It's only 24 KB, and wrote in simple rich text. Anybody got an ideal on this one. I Would like to find somewhere to do it for free. The only thing out of it for me will be the criticism or praise any help on this one would be greatly appreciated
