warped front rotors?

warped front rotors?
I have a terrible consistant "catch" or "grab" when i apply the front brakes. It feelsthe same as warped rotors on a car. Do you guys have any suggestions or possibly the best place to get new rotors. I am not positive that they are warped. Could one of the screws holding the rotor just be torqued wrong? Any info would be greatly apprecitated. Thanks.

RE: warped front rotors?
One way I was shown to test for a warped disc is to jack up the wheel that has the disc in question, get a sharp pencil and hold it horizontally on the fork/swingarm with the tip touching the disk...then spin the wheel around and watch for any gaps between the pencil tip and the rotor... give you an idea of how much it's out by.
As for fixing it... with my old Kwaka GT750, I just sent the whole wheel away to a mob that specialised in fixing warped rotors.... cost about $80AUD to get it done (10 years ago mind you). Cheaper than a new rotor plus didn't have to mess around trying the pull the rotor off - even with a brand new rotor you can warp it putting it on the wheel if not done precisely.

It does sound like a warped rotor but you need to know for sure. Have been doing some looking into various rotorsavailable recently and have found the EBC rotors with the floating front disc could be a good choice and good value for money compared to the more expensive ones. Theyre meant to prevent any pulsing through the lever.

Excellent. I will try the pencil test this weekend. I will also check into the EBC rotors. I only found some very expensive rotors. I don't remember the brand because I wasn't going to spend anywhere near that much money and the modestly priced Brakeking rotors. Thanks for the help.

RE: warped front rotors?
I found these for a member two days ago - they are for the rear rotor, but they have some front rotors and pads as well.

RE: warped front rotors?
Do you guys think a bad wheel bering could be the cause of the problem. I did the pencil test and there is one area on each rotor where the pencil doesn't touch but I think its because there is movement in the wheel. (not rotation) It is a slight movement but there is some play in the front wheel on the axle. More on one side than the other. Does this make sense?
