Default Various questions

I am going to need a new chain here pretty quick, any suggestions on which to buy and where to buy it? If I get a new chain, do I need to replace the sprockets? Which do I need and is it difficult to replace them? Thank you!

I've replace the chain on both of my bikes. I used EK chains on both as well as AFAM sprockets. I went steel all the way around on the sprockets. They last longer than the aluminum ones. There are arguments on both sides. Whatever brand you choose for chain or sprockets and chain, I would do them as a set. Using a new chain with old sprockets will cause premature wear. I'd pick up a chain tool and do the work yourself. It's not that difficult and you'll do a better job than someone else that doesn't care about your bike.

If the sprockets where new with thechain, you only need to replace the chain and the front sprocket. The rear sprocket will last for two chains unless you can see that it is worn, but it shouldn't be. The next time you change, you will see that the first rear sprocket is still less worn than the second front sprocket, but at that time the whole set should be replaced.

Thanks for the feedback. What is the recommended front / rear number for the sprockets?

17/42, but I used 16/43 to get better acceleration. The bike will still do almost 260 km/h so this is a win-win situation.

I don’t remember the exact GPS reading; it was more than 250 km/h though. I was quite satisfied and would have fault finding if less than 250. The speedo indicated about 280 km/h at several occasions. The Hurricane didn’t really encourage to be driven at that speed and 250 truekm/h is a lot even with a modern bike if the road isn’t perfect.

Edit - If you look into the thread http://www.cbrxx.com/general-motorcy...iscussion.htmlwhere people discuss 1/4 mile performance,I did a note for recorded flat out speed of 258 km/h. Not sure if that was with 17 or 16 tooth but Im quite sure it was with 16 front that I used very soon after finding out that 17 was to much for the Hurricane.
