Hi there,

Greetings from "Old Blighty" just bought a 97 CBR1000FV, with 25k miles on the clock, the bike came with a krauser rack and hard panniers, Laser Pro Stock cans, and had just had a set of Bridgestone tyres fitted.

My previous bike was an early VFR750, I find the CBR more comfortable than the VFR, with better brakes, I like the linked braking system, oh, and I love the endless power.

Nice bike. In the US, 96 was the last year for the 1000F. In 1997, the 1100 XX or Blackbird took over.

If you had to upgrade, would you go to the blackbird XX
They don't seem as popular as the CBR1000F

Welcome
Nice bike, looks like a Givi Touring Screen. I had one but sold it. They fit really well.
MarkR-Are your rims polished? I was thinking of having it done on the lips. I like the colors of your bike also!

Logan,

It's a Powerbronze windscreen.

Slowpoke,

You could still get the CBR1000F over here until 99.

MarkR,

Not sure what I would gain by upgrading to the Blackbird xx, don't now much about them, sill discovering the power on this bike yet.

Cheers,

Mitch.

I still to harness all my power, I had the bike in the shop and it's running heaps better.
My sub 3k rpm is a bit weak, but that typical for a bike
my 3k to 5k is where I usually keep the needle and power is good for normally riding
when I start to bend the needle past 6k, then I feel the power come in and the bike wants to go with out me (a little)
Just when I start felling good, somewhere around 6.5 to 7.5, I loose a cylinder and any chance of more fun stops. I stop accelerating and is comes back in.

Thinking coil(s) and/or lead(s)

I only think of the BlackBird XX cause it's newer and 126kw compared to 99kw
Anyway, upgrade it not an option, Haven’t got enough money to buy a Boss Hoss

You must have changed the plugs, so coils/leads sounds about right, I hope you get it sorted.

Or, you could buy british:
