Tyre size and type recomendations please.
My 91 1000fm has stock size bridgetone tyres. They are ancient and a bit iffy!
The rear seems to be a strange size. Is there an alternative that won't effect the bike too much?
Any recomendations of model? I don't thrash around or do track days or do knee down. Just want something that gives confidence round bends/roundabouts.
Mainly summer riding.
Thanks in advance.

Opinions on tyres are like a**holes, everyone has one!
Do a search on "cbr1000f tyres" and see the information that results.
Here's the skinny though.
Stock size is 120/70/17 front and 170/60/17 rear for the Mark 2/3
Many of us have opted for a 180/55/17 rear.
Brand/type comes down to how you intend to ride and cost vs longevity.
Do the search and read up.
Cheers, SB

I have run Bridgestone BT 015, BT021's,Michelin PR , PR2s and Metzelers
I currently have BT015 and it runs fine and can't feel much difference, if anything at normal road speeds in terms of handling or adhesion. We ride generally at speeds which would have you locked up in the UK or the US - it's not bragging, it's just a fact.
Normal cruising is around 150-160KPH or 100MPH.
The BT021 and PR2's gave me best mileage, up to 18000K's .
And nobody really makes a bad tyre today - they wouldn't be in business long if they did.
Nobody runs Dunlop in this country - don't know why but nobody would be seen with a set of Dunflop rubber on their bike. They are OK for delivery bikes..................LoL
As Bear says everyone has an opinion.....................

Like S.B. said, the 180/55/17 on the rear is a great setup. You'll find better verity and prices in that size.
Shinko Raven 009 is a great tire for the price, for a non-tracker. A little heavy buy will last many miles. (I'm on my third set)
Also Metzeler Roadtech Z6 is a great tire for Sport touring. LINK
Both of those tire get good lean angle in rain and wet or cold road conditions.
