Default Tires

I was having trouble with the search feature, so I pose this question about tires. What are most of you running on your 1000? I was reading about some sport/touring tires such as Battleaxe and Metzeler, but can't decide. Most of my riding is commuting.

Thanks for the help,
Matt

I am running Dunlops . I have a New 207 on the back, bought at last seasons end. It was a good price as they are no longer made. I talked with a shop owner yesterday thinking I would have to replce both to get a match. He states that I can put a 208 on the front and it will match with the performance of the rears 207. SO it looks like I will have Dunlops before season starts. Most of my riding is mountain twisties. I've had the 207 up in the rain and noticed no problems. The occasional "burst of enthusiasm" hasnt shown any handling issues.

Running these:

BRIDGESTONE BATTLAX BT45 SPORT V BW - 110/80V17 FRONT
BRIDGESTONE BATTLAX BT45 SPORT V BW - 140/80V17 REAR

Very happy with them. I'm no kneedragger, so ya know...

Also they replaced the original 20 yr old tires so anything would have been an improvement, right?

I'm running the Dunlop Sportmax Qualifiers. They grip really well, but not a good choice for mileage..

I plan on putting on a Bridgestone BT021 on the rear next time. It's either that or the Michelin PR2. Always the 180 rear/120 front (wider rims on the newer models like ours).

I got a pair of Pirelli Diablo supersport tires from Cycle Gear last year as a package deal for $200. Right now I'm running a combo of Michelin and Metzler tires

Dam, man! Can't beat that. That's kinda how I ended up trying the Qualifiers. I got a real good deal on them that I couldn't pass up. Have you run the diablo ss tires yet? What did you think?

Nope, they're still in a box, waiting to burn through my current set

Modern tires are so good these days that there's really no reason to buy 'sport' tires for street riding. Any of the S/T tires are as grippy as track day tires were 5 years ago, and they last. My personal pref. is the Bridgestone BT021, but all of the modern S/T tires are very good.
