Tire deal
Just got a flyer from Chaparral in the mail. Tires for our bikes (120/70/17 front and 170/60/17 rear are on sale. Dunlop Roadsmarts for $115.85/$148.85; BT 021s for $80.85/$107.85; Continental Force for $80.85/$101.85; and Shinko 009 Ravens for $66.85/$89.95. Michelins are on sale, too, but I got PR 2s for a slightly lower price six weeks ago. I don't know about all these brands, but the Bridgestones are good tires. Shinkos are tempting because they're so cheap.

I've got 8200 miles on my Mich PR2's. Put them on back in April. Tire pressure kept at 36-38psi front, 42-44 rear. I'm not pushin hard on them, chickin strips are there, but we do run heavy sometimes. The front is cupping a bit and the back has some center flat going on. They have about half tread at center front and rear. I do like the grip and feel. Just some FYI.

Thanks Shadow. I was hoping to get that much distance out of 'em. I've noticed the turn in as you mentioned. I may just go for a new set for next season. I plan a 1200-1500mile trip week after next to the Smokie Mts, The Dragon, Atlanta and Birmingham. Weather permiting I'll spend a day in the Dragon and north Georgia mountains. I'll try to even-out the wear from the center to the edge of the tires there.

Sounds like a great trip, cb2cbr!! Hope you have a blast!
On the subject of tires, I was checking the prices and the 021's are significantly cheaper per set compared to the PR2s. (Like $187/set vs $315!)
Is it worth the difference in your opinion, Pete? I was thinking about doing a 021 rear with the qualifier still up front.
Then later going with either a full set of PR2s or a set of BT21's....

Thanks for the input shadow. That's a good bit more mileage on the PR2..
Maybe worth it for other things (more frequent changes, etc)
How does the handling compare?
And Hawk, yep.. that is per set. Another place I checked, the 021s were $215 shipped per set, so still in the ballpark. Wonder why they cost so much over there?

I can't feel any difference in the handling - the wet weather performance of the PR2 is supposed to be the best of all the tyres for the CBR1000F according to the Brit bike mags - they should know with all the rain they get ! They also rate the PR2 as the best all round tyre too for wet/dry/lifespan.
