Throttle sticks / idles too high & too low
Problem one
Im trying to start the bike for the first time since the last owner. Now it either idles really high, like 5000-6000 rpms with choke on and up to half way, or it bogs at 500 and dies with choke half way or less. Nothing in between. When I hit the throttle, same problem, either no power at all, or it gets stuck and screams at 5 or 6000 rpm.
The throttle cable nor lever are not getting stuck.
Problem number two.
The one time I had it running at just the right RPM when the bike started it seems like its not running on all cylinders. When I put my hand to the pipe I can feel how on even its running. Also every few seconds it was what I think miss firing, weird noise hard to explain. I let it run for five minutes the moment I just touched the throttle and I mean barely touched it jumped to 5000 RPM. Now every time I start it it goes to problem one.
Please help I have no experience at all with carbonators. Thanks

Giday Tom... first questions
...have to pulled anything apart as yet ?
...do you know for sure that the choke is opening all the way when it is off?
...are you sure the throttle is returning freely to idle?
If you have not got any manuals ...here the is the set ...
Right click to "save as" to your computer is the best way to grab them ..

Thanks for the manual.
-i opened one lid for the carburetors and took out that rubber seal and the pin. put everything back the way it was.
-not sure about the choke but it looks like it slides from the open to close position.
-the throttle does return. it makes a little taping noise when open and let go for it to close.

How long was she stored before you bought her ?
Do you know how old the fuel was in her ? or did you put new fuel in her ?
Do you run a fuel filter ? if you do , is it clean ?
You could have partially blocked carbs ?
If so ...You could try running a can of carby cleaner through her before you even attempt to pull them off and clean them manually ..

The bike has been standing for about three years but i know that the last guy started it a few times in the summer as my friend saw him go around the shop.
I put new fuel oil and filter.
I had no idea there was a fuel filter, ill have to check the manual for its location.
The carb cleaner is that something you add to the fuel and have the bike run for a while, if so she wont stay running long enough for the carb cleaner to work.

Standing for a few years sound like the problem ...
Your bike may not have a filter ...I was only asking you if she had one ...
You could check the screen in the gas tank fuel tap ..
I would say though that the fuel has gunked up your carbs from sitting for so long ..
Even if you can keep her idling for minutes at a time it may help to put some carb cleaner in her ..
It does sounds like you are in for a crash course on carby maintenance ..
You prolly will need to at least strip them off the bike and remove the bowls and clean them out and check all the jets for blockages ..
Sounds worse that it actually is ... If you are unfamiliar with these CBR'S , prolly a solid half a day to do it ..

"Jets are blocked(low speed running)"
The low speed running Jets are smaller and therefor block easier ..
If the cleaner does not help ....pull the carbs off and service them ...
