throttle control device
I'm looking at fitting a throttle lock on my bike to help me keep under the whinging bitch cops radar on nice open highways... has anyone got experience with these? I've read nothing but rave reviews about them so far so I reckon it's a good purchase... especially if it keeps me from "rolling on"... such a pain though...
This next paragraph is stupid and should not be read...
There should be a rule that says because of motorcycles general awsomeness, speed limits do not apply... if riders decide to go flat out, it is likely that they will only kill themselves... longterm emotional scarring of other vehicles involved in the accident or of cleanup crews is worth the trade in getting dangerous riding off the road (and into coffins) - this will have the effect of stopping people from riding bikes which is of course the goal of all non-riders... because they smell like feet.

Vista Cruise brand, standard model that has an ear that dogs between the throttle cables, and not their model that has a bar clamp and jumper bar system that's very "clubesque".
You need to file the apply **** on the underside and at a pretty good bevel to clear the tank at right bar lock but it's easy to do and doesn't alter the functionality at all. Slickest, cleanest, easiest operating, and yet lowest cost of most available units. About $20.
Be prepared to glue the grips so that they don't rub the lock at one end, or the bar end weight on the other end which cause the throttle to stick or drag. Position the grip with proper clearance, roll back each end and place a couple of drops of super glue on the grip. At each end only end only is what I've done with success. Good luck.

I have throttlemeister and it works great. Better than the locking device that I had on another bike. It will release when you back off the throttle.
More $$ I think I paid $110 but it looks better that the stock bar ends/weights.
Shop around for the best deal.

I second Dad's opinion. The Vista Cruise is inexpensive, easy to install and effective. Mine was installed for the same reason you stated, and works well for that purpose. Locked tightly, it takes a concious effort to wick the throttle up while still allowing instant throttle closure if needed. It is a matter of a thumb flick to disengage the lock when needed. Adjusting the drag to meet your preferences is as simple as turning a screw. Great buy, great addition to your bike. Bonus: with the Vista Cruise on you can relax your throttle hand on the long highway drones.
I`m just wondering one thing: How does the "Cruise Control" device you´re thinking of installing affect your throttle control while doing "inspired driving"? I have the "Throttle Rocker" and always take it off when I know I´ll just be going on a short fun drive, just using it when I need to keep an even speed on highway riding. I don´t know how easy they are to uninstall, but they can´t be as easy as the "Throttle Rocker"?
There is a thumb lever that you push down to lock the throttle, push up to unlock it. When the opportunity for 'inspired' riding presents it takes only a flick of your right thumb and the throttle is free. The Vista Cruise stays on the bike full time, use it only when you need it.
"And there is no chance that you unintendely hit the thumb lever? "
Not unless you ride with your thumb sticking out. The Vista Cruise mounts between the throttle grip and the switch housing, with the thumb lever to the left of your hand. To lock or unlock you have to take your thumb off the grip, move it to the left, and push the lever up or down. Wish I knew how to insert a picture, that would make it much clearer than words. I've done the Upload Files and Embed Picture in Post, but nothing shows up on the preview.

Re-read the FAQ on how to embed images and decided to give it another try. If this works, you'll see one picture of the Vista Cruise in locked mode - the lever is down. The other picture shows it in the unlocked mode - the lever is up. As you can see the lever is pretty well out of the way while you ride. Not much chance of accidentaly applying or releasing it.
