Default swingarm difference

does anyone know the difference between a 1988 and a 1994 swingarm. I am going to build an extended swingarm and I have found one off of 1988 and my bike is a 1994. If it will not work does anyone have one that will that they will sell. Thanks for your help.

You'll just mess up the handling IMHO, so WHY ?
Go to www.mrcycles.com, and check the part numbers for different models.
e-Bay is best bet for a swingarm.

Are you extending it in the hope of preventing power wheelies?

This bike is for appearance and comfort, mostly a town cruiser. I have lowered it 4 inches. If I can get a swingarm that will work, after I make a jig I can start pumping them out to other CANE owners cheap. They are overpriced for what little work goes into it.I may even do underbracing and nitrous bottle mounts.

I don't understand why you would want to make one of the best tourers in the world into a cruiser - You may find that at slow speeds, the bike will overheat - also, the gearing isn't designed for low speed cruising around town. The motor's not happy under 3000RPM, and at those revs in town in top gear you're over the speed limit.....even with higher rear sprocket gearing.
It's only my opinion, but I think you've chosen the wrong bike to modify into a cruiser......just my 2c, for whatever that's worth.
There are however, members who would be keen to know how you lowered the bike that far, without compromising the suspension.....
I don't think that you'll have many takers for extended swingarms, either.......again, just 2c worth but I'd hate to see someone invest a deal of money into a project, and have no takers.
Each to his own, I guess.........

The amount of money is not a problem because I have all the resources to do it all my self so out of pocket expense is minimal. I think you might have misunderstoodmy words. I am not trying to turn it into a cruiser, I meant it is as comfortable as a cruiser. Also, we drag race and with the gas prices as high as they are it gets difficult to haul two cars anywhere from 50 to 400 miles on a weekend with no sponsors. So, this is going to be a way to get my "fix". I love riding in the country just not knee dragging. I have three other bikes, which are cruisers, for my "luxurious" riding days. As for the lowering, I am still trying to refine it a little, but as soon as I get it finished I will post some pics. There have been no suspension issues as of yet, but I will have to modify the exhaust a little.
