Stock jetting and seals question

Stock jetting and seals question
Hey guys I have a 87 Hurricane 1000 that I am trying to bring back to life. The PO had 140 main jets in there and the bike runs like crap, I can only get it to fire with the air pods completely off, and then only for a minute. Way too rich I assume. So I need to get some new jets, does anyone know what the stock main jet size is? Also, what do you all recommend for pod air filters? Normally with my other bikes I just go one size above stock, but then I have a stock starting size to begin with...
Also has anyone had any problems with the seal around the shift shaft? It gives me a little drip drip unless I have the bike on centerstand. Anyone know where I could buy a replacement?
Thanks

Jet sizes
Look in the MANUALS SECTION
Download the full manual free - will have jet sizes
Also, what do you all recommend for pod air filters
These bikes are VERY hard to tune with pod filters - they like to run "still air" ie with an airbox. Try and find an original airbox on e-Bay if you can........
Shaft seal - go to Honda Kawasaki Polaris Suzuki Yamaha Motorcycles ATVS Scooters Utility Vehicles
Hope this helps

i run my bike with absolutely zero filtration and i am still on stock main jets (i also have a full SSR2 V&H exhaust). it runs really lean idling/cruising (good for MPG), slightly fat in the mid range (probably could adjust my needles to compensate for this), and nice and lean up top (~13.5 AFR). i run a wideband AFR gauge on my bike all the time so i can watch what it's doing. runs a bit rough just off idle, but for the trade off of how it runs up top i dont mind it running choppy and lean at low RPM.
i believe the stock jets are somewhere in the 125 area? i dont remember since i havent had it apart in a while...

So they sent me 118 main jets by mistake, but I threw them in there anyway. The PO had drilled 2 small holes in the back of each pod filter, so while I am waiting for the airbox to come in the mail I assembled everything together to see how it runs. Idle is smooth and low, it is a little gutless from 1000-3500, but above that it is a true screamer. As fast as I would want it to be. I think we may be running a bit rich still because I get some faint black smoke when I really crank it, but I am going to run it around a bit and see what we see. Thanks guys for the good advice.
