Sticky's (permament threads)
I have been speaking to the Admin Gregg (Chainstretcher) about having some thread locked as sticky's up the top of the page.
This can be the threads like CCT, regulator, tyres, brakes etc. Sort of the common questions new CBR owners always ask.
Plus myself and other have down a few how-to's we could put up. (Dad I'd like to get your input here as you are a wealth of knowledge).
If I can find 40MB of storage somewhere I can supply the Service Manual, Microfiches & Honda Common Service Manual.
We can make the threads locked or not as well.
Lets get your thoughts.
Cheers
Rob

RE: Sticky's (permament threads)
I suggest a STICKY thread with links to other pages which contain the information.. like myspace/geocities type of idea...
otherwise we're going to end up with 10 sticky threads that all the older members have to look at every time we come around (no, i'm not really an old member yet.. here)
my $.02

RE: Sticky's (permament threads)
I have an idea.
We have one sticky only. We then write how to Articles etc as a post. All we need to do then is reply to the sticky with a link to the post. We can't link to other forums as this is a sponsored site. I forgot to get clarification on whether we can link to Web Pages.
Here are some articles (a wish list) I'd like to see.
Full explanation of the CCT problem including workarounds.
Reglator/Rectifier fix.
Starter Clutch Fix
88 & 89 converstion to wider wheels
Manuals.
Suspension Mods.
Any more?

RE: Sticky's (permament threads)
I guess we need to find out what can be available to us, I liked the document idea as it's supports pdf's, photo and so fourth, which can be downloaded. If we can’t have (or people don’t like) a file store idea,
Then, I also like this one.
Same idea as Trips, one sticky, but only one post, which explains what it is about and has a link to a web area.
Once on the website, then we can put anything we want, updating it and editing it cleanly.
We could store text, images, video, sound and files, also have links to other resources.
The only drawback is, it will have to be managed

RE: Sticky's (permament threads)
PDF's are OK, they are what they are, a standard format for viewing documents
Everyone has Adobe PDF reader, not everyone has Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
I use them all the time, ie: I'm doing a invoice at the moment in QuickBooks, I will PDF it and email it, they can read it on their PC, Mac, Linux, Pocket PC or Blackberry.
I’m thinking only one thread and some content/file space. 1 or more posts, but not pages and pages.
