Default So I Got a Hurricane Given to Me

A buddy of mine is headed off to the Army and gave me his little 1988 Hurricane Project bike. He got it Lowered and Stretched and has really done nothing to it but fix one thing for something else to go down on it. So now its mine to figure out and get her sorted out.

I'm excited to have a chance to own her as I love Hurricanes and owned one 10 years or so ago. I'm hoping with yalls help we can get her back up again and on the road.

Before anyone starts ragging on the bike please understand I did not Lower or Stretch it but to be honest I'm not sure that I don't like it this way so it will stay this way until I figure it out.

Here are some pics:

A Month Ago:

When I brought her home tonight:

Now the bike is a Ridged and this is how they did it:

I'm wondering how to get a Suspension back under the back?

I'm also pretty sure this is a Kawasaki Wheels so Im wondering what the Swingarm is?

So here are my Other bikes:

So please tell me what you guys think, and if there is a place to download a manual please shoot me a link.

Looks like good place to start. At least you have the plastics. Let me know if you decide to go back to stock I have a ton of spares. You can find the manual in the workshopanuals section of this website

Thanks Pmcg. To be honest all of the Front Plastic is shot. Any ideas where I can get some replacements? also did not get any of the Bolts that put all the plastics back on the bike from them being off. I guess he lost them. He did give me a box of bolts but no clue to what is what.

The plastics are tough to get. There's a company in ca making repros out of fiberglass. I will find a link and post. I also got a free bike. If you like turning the wrench it will be a great project. Especially having other bike to ride. If you don't like working on it I would sell it and buy a complete one. You'll be in it the same amount of money and save yourself a ton of time.

It's your bike so you do what you want with it.
I will tell you one thing that it won't handle well at all with the stretched rear and I'd ditch the rigid rear end, unless you don't care about your kidneys..........

Good luck with it !

Welcome new Hurricane owner. Looks like they have pointed you in the right direction for the bolts and the fiberglass fairings (which I have a set). Good look on the direction you go.
