snorkle extentions
Hey everybody,this is a question I`ve had on my mind for some time now.
My Hurricane and previous bike have snorkle extentions,some people remove
them and say they gain HP.Is it true,don`t know but here is my opinion.
Snorkles take in cold air from outside the bike(hope this makes sense)if you
remove them,you will be in fact taking some of the heated air from the engine,thus a loss of HP.Also the snorkles are pressurized in affect raming
air into the airbox,so why take them out.What do you think.
Just passing time,before spring riding starts.

If you remove them the air is less dense because it is warm as opposed to cold air whom packs more oxygen, gaz and fluid physiscs, but the hurricane does not takes it's aire by the front , more by the side of the bike just behind your knees when you sit.
Yeah, definately leave them in! I wouldn't believe the guys unless they had the dyno figures to back it up. When I put on my V&H I'm pretty sure it doubled the horse power

I wouldn't want the extra noise from intake howl just to add .1 hp
There was is a guy on a Ninja forum that touted drilling a 1 inch hole in the stock airbox to "balance the pressure between the airbox and the carb float bowls"
What a bunch of sh*t.
He was a hero to all the members. Of course the other parts of his signature 'mod' were installing a K&N filter and adjusting the pilot screws richer.
I still laugh.
I believe in Japanese engineers.

Leave it as it comes from the factory. These bikes run best with "still" air in the airbox, and you'll LOSE horsepower IMO if you mess with what is a well engineered system.
If you want more "bang for your buck" change your sprockets, but your economy will suffer and your speedo will be even further out than it usually is.

Snorkels are used to source air away from heat sources like the engine as the cooler air gives you more bang, that is one of the reasons people like myself pay $700 or more to have them fitted to our 4wd's
