Default Shock Replacement

My new Shock arrived today, and everything looks fairly accessible. I just have one question, what is the best way you have found to keep the rear stable while replacing/removing the rear suspension? I am thinking of tackling it tomorrow and any advice would be great.

Changed it. Was much easier than I thought. Time to give it a blast.

Well, I cant believe I rode my bike in that condition. As Shock wear is progressive, I obviously changed my riding style to suit the knackered suspension. Feels like a whole new bike again.

The one I just fitted was from the older model forx. I didnt get a look at the year, but it was the older shape. I got lucky, it was an aftermarket one on the stripped bike and hopefully hadnt been on there too long.

Nope, the damping is an allen bolt that is behind the dogbone at the base of the shock, and for the preload, a tool is needed. Its a small price to pay, cos I am enjoying riding it a hell of a lot more without the Cadillac wallow.
