Default selling my car, buying a bike? advice?

Hello folks, I 'v just seen this 1988 CBR100F for sale, and the guy wanted about what i wanted to sell my car, so I went and looked at it, seems to be in fair shape, been laid over twice, at standstill which has cracked some of the fairing just elow the handlebars, not serious, the odometer says 35000 kms, I'm assuming this is 135000 kms. drive chain looks like it's near the end of it's life, so are the rear brakes, tires are good.

now here's my car, an 82 Rx7 GSL, leather, rebuilt engine, new clutch, good tires, new brakes, and shocks all around, no rust on body or frame, has rust on passenger door, all fluids have been recently changed, collector car in 2 years, all electronics work (rare) and the power antennae works too. I have kept everything bone stock on the car for that reason. guaranteed to pass smog tests, would include headers and exhaust system if desired. what does the car need? well, it could use a respray of paint, since it will be hard to match the old color, I have an extra passenger door if the guy wants to paint it and put it on.

now which way should additional cash flow in this trade? he started off asking 3500 for the bike, but dropped it to 2800, I was asking 2200 for the car all funds CDN$ any input is greatly appreciated, you guys might see me around here more if I get this beast

Oh, I should add I'm 6" 145 lbs, and havent ridden a street bike before, lots of experience on other bikes but that was ten years ago, am I in for deep doo-doo?

Hmmmmm.......starting off on a CBR 1000???? I suppose if you have major amounts of self control you MAY be able to get away with this without killing yourself. Have you considered maybe a newer 600 to start out on? At 6' and 145, a 600 would definitely be plenty peppy enough to learn, or in your case, re-learn riding techniques. Not trying to steer you clear of the 1000, but just trying to look out for a fellow rider. Be careful and be safe.[&:]

well, thank you very much for your concern, i know won't be needing to open it up for a long time, , the main reason I'm getting a 1000, well, it's price, I can get it by investing 650$ and my car (which was 600$ out of pocket), just out of curiosity, what is the weight differance between the 600 and the 1000? the bike will be mainly a commuting vehicle to and from work. I'm having a hard time imaginining a CBR 600 being that much safer to learn on, I mean once you're above 60 MPH, which both bikes achieve really quick...i don't think there's much differance. a little in manouverabiliy I can see

well, i've owned the bike 2 weeks now.. i've laid a 75 foot black strip in front of my work, and i nearly outran a buddy (8 years experience, 2001 gixxer 750) on some twisty roads.. i still can't believe it when he said he could barely keep up... I've hit 125MPH, not planning on doing that any time soon again. i'm having lots of fun though
