Question Rumble, rumble, rumble?

Hi guys,

Noticed lately that the bike rumbles when on 'over-run'(i.e. when no throttle applied), there is also vibration through the foot pegs Was trying to hear if it stopped when the clutch is pulled in, it's hard to tell, but I think it is quieter.

Both the front and rear wheel bearings are about six months old, do not make noise or have any play when the bike is raised.

Any suggestions? Thanks

Is your chain correctly tensioned ?
Maybe time to do the engine balancer shaft adjustment......

The only time I have heard rumbles on a bike I'd shagged out the big end bearings on my Z650. I'm hoping it's just the chain too tight or something equally easy to fix for you mate.

engine balancer shaft adjustment? That sounds like something a mechanic would when trying to separate you from your money.

NOPE - 15 minute job
Look under the "how to" section, Pat
Trout did a good write up (but don't tell him I said so"

I think Hawk's bike's just shagged from all the salt air, and slow rides

Cheers for the pointer Pete, I'll try the balancer shaft adjustment and check the chain tension.

Hope it's not big ends Are there any other simptoms if that's the case?

Maybe rear wheel carrier bearing - the big bugger in the middle, or even the outer ones. Not sure without hearing it close up and personal......hell I had my front sprocket come loose ones.... talk about a strange noise.................
Sorry I can't be more specific.
And yes, let's hope it isn't a bearing, but I doubt it................

Just went through the same thing here. I found I had a couple of links in my chain binding. Replaced the chain and all good now. Good luck

Chain would be my guess, too.... although didn't you just replace that, Steve? Maybe just an adjustment. That's what I would try first, check the chain freeplay, clean and WD40 it.
If it's not that, I'd have a good look at your sprockets, particularly front.

Trout did a good write up (but don't tell him I said so)
Love you, too, old chap.

Yeah I'll have a general 'nose about' to see what I can find.

Kids are off school right now, so it's hard to find time to get stuck into anything without being distracted.
