I got the engine out and was totally intimidated so I sent it out to a guy. He took it completely apart and was gonna charge me $3000.00 to rebuild. I couldn’t afford it so I picked up my parts and it sat in the garage for the winter.

I found a guy on CR that wanted an older Harley and we traded my 77 Ironhead and a small MIG Welder for his running 88 CBR1000F Hurricane.

This is my 2nd bike and my 2nd season riding - I’m still pretty new at this.
I picked it up yesterday in Toledo, Oh and rode it home (140mi) with no issues. The rear breaks could be looked at and my Right hand kept going numb but other than that it was a great ride.

I'll be putting new tires on it and like I said getting the rear breaks looked at and I'll take it to a Honda place and have them look it over and change all of the fluids.

I did notice that the Fuel and Temp gauge is not working but I think that I can figure that out...

The moral of the story here is that I took me a Harley to get the Honda. My best friend rides a Harley and he likes the oldjapper. I really dont care either way there were / are plusses to both.

My Harley buddies do give me a little **** from time to time but that is just what they do and Im ok wioth it. Now Im making all kinds of new frineds that are Jappers. That's cool too.

Im with Jules, it all about the ride, the friends and having good experiences.

Sorry for the lokg post.

If your hand's tingling it could be onset of cramp - I have large hands (size 12/13 XXL) and I removed my grips and ran some masking tape onto the bars, about 4 layers, then refitted them.
Bulkier grips reduce fatigue somehow, at least for me. Only good thing about H-D is the FAT grips
(I just can't afford them, and they don't fit) he he
May also be engine vibration - check and adjust the balancer shaft, and replacing all the fluid's easy - we'll give you step by step and save some money (for the good paint job)

77Harley - hmmm, I think you did well out of the deal, and yes, it's all about what YOU like, bugger what everyone else thinks - just as long as its two wheels........(and a CBR1000F) he he
I still, however, have to discover the benefits of owning a Harley[8D]
