Default Replacement rims

Hi guys. Has anybody replaced the rims on a 93-99 cbr1000f? I saw that someone had replaced the wheels with a vtr1000. Just wondering if they can be used, any mods needed? do the brakes work oem ? linked? unlinked?

Thx

OK, I'll take a shot. Yes, I know that there are stock replacement rims for the 93-99 1000F. Check ebay- they come up now and then.

Ok I'll give it a shot for the rotors:

look at the attached file;

Cbr1000f stock disks are the same as Vfr750f(90-92), iin the file they say that vrf750f uses the same stock disk as the 94-97 model, the floater disks are available for 94-97 model, then voila you should have floater for the cbr1000f.

here is the atchhed file:

Paco
thx for the thought, yup you're right.. ihave found them also on ebay, but what i was hoping to find was a wheel that uses a floating rotor disk (ours use solid).

Carl
also, thx for the help
didn't get or see the file.. however i looked up the number also, and you're right up until 93 the vfr did use the same rotors.

but in 94 the number changes and the wheel also changes from a wide center hub like our to a smaller skinny hub which then calls for the floating rotors with a different attach point pattern. If I'm wrong, plz let me know. That is the most current info I had.

I saw that one of our members cbrwelder09 had posted pics with a 93(just like mine) and in the text said he had used vtr1000/superhawk rims wheels and rotors. It looks awesome!! My questions were wheel spacing, caliper attach spacing, diameter for rotors,LBS still used,
stuff like that... still no answer though so I was wondering if anybody else out there has tried this, has any more info etc...

I know questions questions but this is the best forum with the best members.. so I am looking forward to the flood of hits and info..

Again Thx to all

Awesome!!!! Sweet...there you are cbrwelder,, that would be excellent..I thank you so much in advance..

Your bike (soon ours) looks so much better with the floating rims. They weigh less, get rid of more heat faster, and again look so good..

Do you know if they used vtr sized rotors or a different bike's? Also do you still have Linked brakes on your 93? Any more close ups of the front wheel? Can you email me some?
I'm located just north of chicago, where are you? Love to take a good closer look. Its cool finding somebody else with the same ideas and bike...

I knew this forum was fantastic..

Hey dragon. Cool, I also saw that , but i didnt think that they were floating, also they were not LBS. Only after 93.
