Question Rear rotor clearance?

I just pust fresh pads all the way around on my '93 1KF, but after mounting the rear wheel, the rotor bolt heads just barely bump into the bottom of the caliper, and I can't figure out why.

I did not remove the rotor, and I triple checked both the left and right wheel spacers were in the correct positions.

This happens whether the axle nut is torqued down or not...all suggestions welcomed, as I'm sure it's something super simple and I'm being an idiot.

I'm going to validate that the rotor screws are torqued down properly tonight.

Thanks.

Hey:

Rotors bolts must be loose or too long(wrong ones) it is physically impossible for them to contact the caliper unless they (calipers or rotor/wheel) are the wrong ones.
It would have to make contact with the wheel 1st. Unless you mean the caliper hanger. Pics please.

Yup, the rotor bolts are touching the very bottom of the caliper retention BRACKET, and yes, the retainer is in the swingarm channel securely...

Will try to snap some photos asap if I can't get it sorted out; the rotor itself and new pads all look like a good fit with no problems.

Although you said you triple checked them mate I'd qaudrupally check the spacers are seated properly as it sounds like that more than anything. I take it there wasnt any problems before you took the wheel off to do the pads ? I did the rear pads on my 89 yesterday and she went back on just as she was before hand. It would be something minor for sure. Good luck with it.

Sounds like everything is correct. I have .050" clearance between bolt heads and bracket. It's close. The heads protrude slightly above the rotor.

The spacing should be (between the swing-arm),small spacer, bearing (6305UU), spacing collar, bearing (6304UU) and larger spacer.

Could it be that the bearings are incorrect? They are two different part numbers. If the bracket didn't grow, I don't get it.

Are you sure the sliders are working?

It is close, I do remember looking at that and thinking something was wrong but it didn't rub.

I'm going to pull the wheel, and reset both the left and right side spacing collars on the hub, as it seems there should just be a little more stand off distance from the caliper side such that the rotor bolt heads just clear.

If that doesn't cure the ailment, I'll have to resort to posting pictures! :=)

I had a look at mine today and the rotor bolt heads sit BELOW the surface of the rotor my at least 1mm maybe 2.. The only thing I can suggest is that the bolts aren't sitting properly within the rotor allowing it to pass the caliper bracket properly. Check them as well. Good luck.
