Default RE: Raise rear suspension

Mikekop, your point is well taken - however, Gabriel's at least had a few posts (the other guy's a complete newbie, who hasn't responded to the question to date )and the guys have tried to help him. Sure, meddling with the brakes is dangerous, but I think the guys realise that he has some idea what he's doing. Also, if the brakes are messed up, you'll know about it before you leave the workshop, and if you still proceed, well, then we can't help.
I don't know enough about the linked brake system to make an effective contribution, and wouldn't change them on my bike if they came that way as standard. I use both brakes when stopping, anyway........... I think it also had to do with not WHAT was said, but the WAY it was said. I find the bike sits down flatter with both brakes applied, instead of the front 'diving" but each to his own.....[X(]

The raise will be about 10 cm (or 4 inches for you who measures the old way) if I remember correctly.

Ignore the WHY people.
You will get a much quicker steering response and a better/more modern looking Hurricane.
It is the best mod I have done to my own old CBR1000.

I include some pictures...

Am I the only one who can't see these pictures?

In 1989, Honda increased frame rigidity and changed the steering-head angle, decreasing it's wheelbase five mm, and trail seven mm. This quickened the steering so it no longer steered like a truck, but is still planted in a corner.

I'd like some more info on this modification.

I was so interested in the thread that I didn't notice the dates. So how is the Hagon? Did it raise the rear? I have a friend with a VFR750 who is also interested in the Hagon.

Don't think the Hagon raises the rear, or if it does it's not so you'd notice.

Its been 3 years now and no one has answered WHY would you raise the rear of a bike that is already front end heavy.

Maybe he's got long legs - anyway keeping seriously on topic you could cut and lower
the top shock mount/bracket on the frame but you'd need to be a gifted welder like Malbo

But I'm in the same camp - why raise the rear transferring more weight forward
on a bike that already has borderline too much weight up front

Wink

morning all,

I've been looking into shortening the dogs(well, the distance of the pivot points) on the '881000f so that I can some more clearance - I'm getting fed up of the bike grounding out and at 6ft3 any extra height would be welcome.

I've seen Honda_Hurricanes bike pictures and he sure looks like he knows what he's talking about....

But - anyone understand why by reducing the hole distance from the 'dog link to frame' to where the' relay arm bolts to the dogs' increases the ride height?
I'm sure it works but I'd like to be able to understand how and why before I start drilling.

Hope the 'why' is OK with y'all.
Cheers.
