Posts are good - but mates are better!
I haven't been reading the posts lately - sorry - been away.
Having read Bluebeard's write-up on carb sync I thought I'd pop over and compare notes with him (Hurricane pre 1990 versus CBR1000F 1990 - 1993). I'd never met him before but he said he'd shout me a bite to eat if Irode over- what a forum mate!
Anyway he's a great guy - immense experience as fitter and turner - has "split the cases", done gearbox rebuilds, suspension rebuilds, fabricated specialist parts .... this guy has a wealth of experiences.
Rather than take the short route to meet with Bluebeard I took the scenic route ... down the Great Ocean Road (400km), through the Grampians National Park (mountain pass)(300km), though the farmland of canola flowers and young corn (300km), skirted south of the Little Desert (200km) to the wine growing region (100km), throughthe wealthy cattle countryaround Tintinaraand then on to the great River Murray which is only 2,500km long (150km). The complete trip was 2,741km and Bluebeard did buy me a superb breakfast .... and even put oil on my chain for the return trip!
The trip is here ...let it load then press "Get Directions"@ the bottom left.... http://tinyurl.com/3n9s24
Some thumbnail photos of the Great Ocean Roadand country for those who dont know the area... http://tinyurl.com/4xssx9
It's good to have mates!

Never mind ..I have ridden that trip a few times ... its really nice ...
3 times on my Kawasaki 1000 .....
My first time ...at 18 years old, I did Melbourne to Adelaide on my 250 (bored to 300 ) XL Honda trail with a mate with the same trail bike !!!! yu don't recon that was a blast !!! unreal ..we boosted the gearing to cruise at 110klms ...tops!!!
I would have taken time off to go on that lttle cruise with Martin on the CBR ...but **** happens I spose hey Pete ...
And that's right ..I do not supply oil?? ...I use and supply passing riders with Teflon based chain lube
anyway Pete .. I will be cruising Africa next year with you guys .. .........that is a certainty!!!!
