not backwards, inlet is bottom, vent is on top between 1-2 and 3-4. at least on my 88. Another thing to look at is your float needle and seat. since just one cylinder is filling, should just be a problem in the one carb. I would take it apart again, q-tip the seat, and replace the needle. while it is apart, put the float in a cup of fuel and make sure it doesn't sink. I had a gpz900 with a leaky float. very hard to find.

There looks to be three connecting pipes in the carb diagram.

Without being able to lift my tank, what is the third pipe for? Could that be mis-conected?

one, some boat yards will do it for ya too.......boat motors always have comp'
checks done to them......
You say you are getting good strong spark on 2 right ? nothing grounding out ?
I would double check that needle seat on #2 carb again if #2 cyclinder is still filling
up with gas..........reading back through all the previous posts seems most probable
issue to me other than the potential sticky valve

Last winter I was working on a snowblower and it had a very small piece of thread in the bowl seat(needle). Fuel would flood the carb. It was very hard to find.
