Default Part out, sell or keep

I havea 1987 1000F. It doesnt run, wont even turn over with a full battery. I just ordered a wiring harness, but my girlfriend is urging me to get rid of it. My question is would it be worth it to part the bike out, get it running and sell the whole thing, or just keep it cause parting it out or selling it ill lose money. I have about 800 into it, and id like to not take a loss on it. If I will end up taking a loss Id like to keep it.

Well,if it were me.......I'd stick with it - if you sell it as a non-runner,then you will definately lose money.Depends how much you like the bike
really.I have had a lot of problems with my CBR,but i've just kept at it and not given up.Ploughed nearly £400 into getting the brakes
sorted out now plus numerous other things - but i know that the feeling it will give me,and the smile it'll put on my face when it all comes
together and i'm out on the road enjoying riding it,and i'll know all the hard work was worth it!

I'd say listen to your girlfriend.I'd trust a woman's hunch. We men could be unnecessarily stubborn.
Sometimes its hard to say goodbye but you may have to cut your losses. This might be such a situation. Its an old bike, likely seen better days, and probablyat the end of its natural life. I would let it go, even at a modest loss. Unless you are going to do the work yourself, which could bring satisfaction in itself.

Yeah i was definately going to do the work myself. I just got turned down for 700, I cant quite afford to take much of a loss. Everytime I think about parting it out I cant help but think Ill sell one crucial part and the rest will sit on my front patio.

Mow much demand is there for parts for this bike? Enough to sell most of them?

I think we should be looking at what exactly is wrong with the bike and trying to help this guy solve it.

Please go back to you original post and be more specific and we all will help I am sure.

don't just go throwing new parts at it, that MORE than anything else will P*** your partner off.
she sees it as wasted money, trust me I KNOW !!!.

have another look at it, tell us what you have tried, post it and you will get answer, then if you have tried everthing you can it won'n be so hard to say Good bye
