Nice article, indeed I felt in love with these awsome machines when I was in high school and the first models appear here in the country.
I had previous experience with my buddie's FZ750's and GSX'Rs but so then I tried this "huge" machine, the crisp response, the colors scheme, the sound, well the rest is history, I made a jurament that day that one day in the future I would have a bike just like that one.....it took me 16 years later to find the perfect candidate and I still love the way it looks, I would just remove the cover to see her parked there, trying to understand the lines and the engineering behind her.
Great machines indeed!!!

Ever since the 1000F series came out I wanted one bad ...
I still believe that they have a style that is timeless to a large degree..
I also still just drop the cover off mine to sit and stare at her ..
As far as power and handling go ...well my number plate below says it all ... LOL
For a bike of their size the are still unreal today , as far as power goes ...
UF "yer I added the "0"
Unidentified Flying Object - 737 is a large powerful passenger plane ... LOL
I cant help but whack pics up yet again ...
No way would I trade my 1000F for a brand new ride ..Triumph or other wise!!

I'd like to find one (the latest model) in need of TLC and rebuild it back to original, as new standard, with a few "engine, brake and suspension tweaks". I don't think I've ever ridden a bike I enjoyed more, including the ZZR1200, the 1050 Triumph - a great bike too (but I wouldn't swap mine for one) the new 1400 Kwacker tourer (a real lump at 305kg's, makes mine feel all skinny)
Hard to believe the design is as old as it is - timeless lines and a thing of beauty indeed !
I still get asked if this is the latest model from Honda - !
I remember what Flogger said about parking it so he could see it when having a shower - they'll be popular forever with everyone who has ever ridden one.

I have had mine since new 1988.
Went back to school and stored the bike for 11 years!!!!
Had it brought back to life/restored in 1999.
I too like to just stare at the sensuous curvey lines.
It still brings up people asking about it and admiring the timeless design.
In '04, I test rode the Suzuki GSX-R 2004 Matt Mladin Replica and even though it felt like night and day, I couldn't get rid of the Hurricane.
Actually, I ride the Hurricane on long trips and the Gixxer on short ones.
So I can say I have the best of both worlds.

I decided to go with the Blackbird when I was looking for a replacement.
The 97 & 98 carb blackbirds have the same fluid feel about the engine as the CBR1000F.
The only mods done to make the Blackbird as comfy as the CBR1000F are a pair of VFR800VTEC bars (higher & further back) + an MRA variotouring screen.
I liked my CBR1000f but bits were geting scarce in the UK. now with the Blackbird - I have no problem finding anything for it.
The brakes are better on the Blackbird and with a K-Tech shock in the rear and ohlins springs/oil up front the blackbird feels like a better bike to throw around.
