was a CBR1000FL owned by my dad when I was about 15/16 ... I had been pillion on his older bikes from about 12/13 years old but when he got the 1000 in 1990 and I went on that it was like a magic carpet ride in comparison and so comfortable and quiet too .. that is mainly what I remember of that bike and thinking how the hell can he hold that bike up .. it seemed

mum never liked bikes .. in fact she was terrified of them ... when I started going on the back with dad it became a source of friction but it died down when she realised no amount of moaning or argueing was going to change anything other than cause us all to be miserable ...

what could dad do?? ... he owned them himself and knew I loved being around them .. I told him as soon as I start work I am saving for my own bike and nothing can stop me ... that's when he insisted he train me properly to ride ... he used to have an intercom system and made me listen to his commentary when going into bends when I was a pillion ...
