Default oil help if you please

So i have been reading on here about some of the oil issues. What is the best oil to use. From what i gather it should be the 15-40 diesel oil. some help and feedback would be great. the guy i bought my cane from said the cam tensioner was changed 1500 miles ago and it is rattling horrible

I also use the Motul and am happy with it. I don't understand the use of diesel oil in a high performance petrol engine (mind you, there's a lot I don't understand!). No oil will fix a mechanical problem, only mask the symptoms temporarily. I think all our 'canes rattle when they're cold but it should quieten down pretty soon after starting, unless the chain itself is rooted or the "new tensioner" is faulty (or not new?). I don't think what oil you use matters much as long as it's a good brand bike oil and the right weight for your use and temperature. I think what really matters is changing it frequently. I change mine every 5000km and the filter every 10000km. I think this may be slightly more than needed but it gives me peace of mind. I'd stick to bike oil and if it keeps rattling find out why before the chain slips or snaps and something goes bang. That's my two cents worth...hope it helps.

That particular horse will never die...it's just a deep sleeper! I started reading some of the info then drifted into a familiar semi-dream like state involving thoughts of sex, beer and motorcycles! I call it my "happy place" and visit it often. When I get really old the drooling, crooning and rocking will probably be part of it too..
