Default Oil filter from hell!!

I'm looking for some way to get this FN thing off. So much for the nut attachment, stripped with a socket first try. I then used vice-grips but that just rounded the end. I then used the rubberband wrench but did not have enough room to turn due to the headers, lastly I used the strap wrench which only put a dent in the top of the filter.

Holly Crap I can beleive it's giving me this much trouble.

when i bought my f4 the oil filter was on so tight ihad to take a screwdriver and punch in through the filter just to get it to turn. i ended up with 12 holes in it before i could take it off by hand. stupid f*er that owned it apparently.

Question

+1 on the screwdriver and hammer. Also a real oil filter wrench would work.. Be sure to oil the gasket before you put the new one back on. Why are you changing the oil now, you can't ride it .

If you've got the new filter handy, head on down to autozone/advance auto and get the filter cap wrench 'F'. Fits the Kawasaki filters that I use on the CBR

Edit: don't make me get the bike ready and do a trip to your place

I've had to do the old screwdriver through the filter trick, too. Never on the CBR, though...

malbojah is right on the money. Get a decent steel cap wrench. The pic below is very similar to mine. Then a 3/8" extension w/ 17mm socket right between the fairing. It's worked every time so far. I use Purolator filters from advance auto.

Had trouble with mine on the first change. Possible some doped up mechanic used air tools to put it back on.

Ended up using this

Dunno if you have the clearance on your bike to use it tho
