Sorry, ethanol burns COOLER. This allows higher compression before knocking. Also has less energy content= fewer mpg.

When mixed with gas it does make the mixtuer burn hot. The guy that owned the Yammy also said that his bike was running hot.
When a properly tuned injected engine using E-85, the injecters stay open 40% longer. I had problems with it and used my enrichners (choke) to help the bike run.

Edit: it poseted, it posted....time for a brew....

Yeah, she sounds ill. Carbs could do with a clean I reckon. How long has it been standing?

TBT, the computer has named you "Normal 0". Don't fight it....it does what it pleases.
Hell, I thought you found a way to make it let you post anything....

I guess that I should have specified that I was talking about E-85 and not pure ethanol. Technically, I suppose, everyone is right.

In his original post he said he cleaned the carbs and put in fresh fuel. Why is everone telling him to clean his carbs and put in fresh fuel?
Put your hand over the exhaust pipe with the engine running. If it is constantly being blown off with a regular pulse then your valves are probably ok. If you feel your hand being "sucked" toward the pipe every so often then chances are you have a tight/sticky valve, which would cause the exact problems you are experiencing.

Doh! Forgot to preview grrrrr

Just an update guys – the CDI is shagged – the mechanic advised me to source one myself as it would be cheaper – picked one up from ebay today and it has been shipped to me already.
Originally it looked as thought it was a coil – but various test and swap outs ruled it out
