No-one ever said life was easy. They are indeed heavy bast...s .KiwiTK can probably tell you about the time he ran out of gas and the hassle we had getting the "Black Bi.ch" to start again. All I can add is that these things LOVE lotsa volts the more the better.

Yeah, this weighs just a little shy of my 1100. It had starting issues a couple years ago because it too needs a LOT of volts to fire up. Would it be worth hooking a car battery up just to see if I can get it to fire up?

Yes it would, as suggested here, it's always worth a try if there is any doubt about the integrity of the battery. You've got nothing to loose

I'll do it then. If a battery is my only problem I would be overjoyed. If I still have slow cranking but I do get spark then I'll jump my starter relay to eliminate that as well, then probably look into the damper fix.
Just to clear things up (since I am unfamiliar with this bike) can a low charge secondarily cause a low/no fuel to the plugs situation? I know this doesn't have a fuel pump but I want to make sure. I know I currently have no spark but my plugs still seem dry as well (even though I get fuel in my bowls).

Check the earth connection from the battery to the frame is clean and tight (located at the L/H side with the seat off). Also check that the ignition control unit plug hasn't got loose or disconnected (located at the rear of the frame on the R/H side under the rear seat fairing).

Hey all, thanks for checking up on me! Unfortunately no I haven't gotten it running yet but my CB is to blame for that. It's been getting all the wrenching time lately.

HM, my ground from the battery to the frame was one of the first things I checked actually. I cleaned it with 400 grit paper and put it back on w/ dielectric grease. The ICU plug will be next. I removed a lot of the plastics yesterday after work while it was still light in the hopes that I can get to it soon. Maybe today but I have a fair amount of plumbing work to do around the house! Maybe I can do both after work.

...and per the suggestions of other posters I did try bump starting to no avail, but it is pretty cold out here (which only compounds the starting problems). I feel like I'm gonna have to do a damper job on this before it becomes reliable enough for my daily transportation. Battery is holding 12.7v consistently and I'm storing it in a warm basement.

The battery, yes! The CBR is a bit heavy to roll down stairs but I've done things almost as crazy. Here is the CB down in the basement:

Unfortunately the CBR is stuck outside in the cold. I have too many stairs to get it in the living room. If I could I would be getting a lot more work done on it!

lol I thought you meant the whole bike. Unfortunately I would not have been surprised. My buddy failed to put a christmas tree up last year because his RC51 was where the tree goes.
