And just quietly Mel, whilst I'm sure we're all a bit keen to help on what appears to be one absolute mission of a project, can we get some clearer photo's without all the distracting leaves in the background??

Very Autumnal, but not actually very helpful.

All the best with the project mate, they are worth it at the end of the day.

Welcome to the forum, Mel.

You have found a worldwide cadre of people here who are more than willing to help you through this resto project

Factory service manual is a must-have. I prefer the print to any on-line version. Though having one on-line is of additional benefit.

Also, I have used parts supplier microfiches as a visual refernce as well. The exploded views lend some clues as to how things go together. Sometimes it helps, sometimes it doesn't. The parts lists will usually give you the specs on any fasteners you might need. Very helpful and much cheaper to go to Fastenal or the hardware store for nuts and bolts than to order and wait for Genuine Honda

For the fiches I got to cheapcycleparts.com. They're year and model searchable.

Good luck to you

Yea the far right carb has a part missing where it looks like it was dropped and cracked the body. I could just replace the crack cabs body but it looks to be i will have to get a set! So i am thinking i may have to find a new set . So what should i do about the coolant system where they have those block off plats on the side of the motor?

Well hell I'd leave the plates as is otherwise you are talking complete plumbing setup
for a 94 with thermo housing etc. bit of a pain in the *** for not much gain.

Carbs , best to grab a set of MK 2 carbs thats 89-91 as these are straight rail carbs too
and will work with Mk1 (87 88) and Mk2 (89 - 91) airboxes !

You would need to block a small vac port on the MK2 carbs on the left side with a
rubber cap. (this is used on later MK2 bike petcocks - a vacuum fuel valve shutoff)

93 -> carbs are v shaped and would require a matching set of intake and airbox
hardware

Oh yeah and don't forget the engine mount bolt thats missing - be a good idea
to keep the motor from falling out ....lol ........ might have to chop and weld
to get the bolt mount to line up - or just chop and add another plate

Thank you sprock. Guess I am off to the bike junk yard to try and find a set of MK 2. There are 3 bike yard with in 50 miles of me. Yea i do need to get those bolts and a few other for that matter. If the motor mount holes don't line up i will get out the mig welder and make them line up!

Yea i am but i do a lot of work on the cb 750 sohc and the cb/cm twins. I just always want a 1000f just hoping i can get all the parts to get it together form next summer! It will be nice to have a 6 speed again as i do a lot of high way speeds. That lower rpm at speed and high end pulling power will be nice. Right now my ever day driver is a 1980 cm400 i have build. It has loads of low end but lacking in the high end. the way most twins are.
