Need help (re)installing carburetors
Is there trick to placing the carburetor rack back into the 4 carb ports?
I'm tried just about every method I could try.
Greasing the port sleeves.
Loosening the rack so individual carbs can move as much as possible.
Brute force , which helps the release of toxic mental energy, does
little coax the carbs correctly into position.
A few questions about this procedure in general.
Is this procedure, inherently , a two man operation?
Should/Do I need to replace the carb port boots?
Rebuilding the carbs was a walk in the park compared to this.

Dr. Sprock,
Thanks for the quick reply. I did try the ol' hair dryer on the port boots. What type of
"hand sanitizer" are you referring to? The Gel based stuff with alcohol? Sounds like
the general approach to this is get the most slippery substance you can find and just jam the
carb. rack back into the ports.

I have had luck using a ratchet strap. Place the carbs on the boots, wrap a ratchet strap over them and around the motor, then crank it down tight, use it to apply pressure as you work the carbs into the boots. It will allow you to have even preasure on all the carbs and be able to work them back and forth with your hands at the same time.

I have not done it on one of these bikes yet but other in-line 4's are a bitch too. I found it best to rotate the rear of the carbs up and then rotate the rear down while pushing them in. Basically you need to start the tops in first. They always seam to go in the easiest that way.
I have exercised my four letter word vocabulary while installing carbs in the past.
