Default Need Carb info for a hurricane 1987-90 CBR1000

Hi,

Does anyone know what the Keihin Carb model number is? I need to also find a place that I can order a complete rebuild kit for these carburetors. Any help would be appreciated.

For the 87-88 CBR1000, California model is VG91A. For all other US is VG90A. For the 90-91, California model is VG91B and US is VG93A. What are you changing, the float valve seats and valves?

Try the Honda Dealer.
I had mine rebuilt recently.
I'll find out how much they charge me for the kit.
My bill might have the part # and my bike is an '88 just in case.

Here you go, I found the info on the carburator gasket kit.
The kit part is # 16010-MM5-901.
You need 4 of these, at the cost of $27.99 ea. for a total of $111.96.
I had mine rebuilt at the Honda dealer earlier this year.
The hourly rate is about $55 and they billed me about 4 hours for this job.
Not too bad if you ask me.

Hi Red Baron,

This carburator gasket kit part # 16010-MM5-901 contains all the gaskets required? There are many little O rings and seals. Does the Diaphragm come with the kit also?

I guess it contains everything, since my bike was stored for 2 years, they told me I needed them rebuilt.
They wrote on the Job order- Carburator rebuild and 4.5 hours of labor to do.
So, I'm guessing that a rebuild has to include all those parts , but since I didn't do it, I'm not sure.
Call the dealer and ask them.

Hi Red Baron,

The diaphragm is fairly expensive, so I don't think it comes with a gasket kit. Does one of 'em have a hole? I would try a little Goop or other cement on the diaphragm first. If the diaphragm piston is sticking, it and the walls need a good cleaning.
