Default need big help wont start

Well i changed the plugs, changed the oil, checked all the fuses and they are all good, disconnected the kill switch and it started like it wanted to fire like the first part was hitting but it just would not run.

ripped the carbs off going to clean them at work tomorrow and i checked the air filter it is fine its actually a k&n air filter.

if i clean the carbs up and it wont start where would u guys go to next it seems like it is getting spark because it wants to start to go just isnt doing so.

could it be the cdi box and if so how do i check it with a multimeter?

also once u fix one big problem please tell me these bikes run well for awhile its just getting frustrating that i cant get it started.

If you have spark, and fuel, it can only be either
1 Poor battery
2 Poor coils causing poor spark
3 CDI Unit, which is difficult to test.
4 Choke not operating
When they run, they run forever.

Lift the tank up, and pull the choke lever manually while operating the starter. Bike should start. Mine won't start without the choke, except when it's warm.......maybe it's that simple - hope so.

+1
on a warm day I can start it with out choke, but it's nackie

just cause something is new, dosn't mean it good

if you have a jump pack, try starting the bike with that, if the battery is good, you should niot notice a diffrence in starter speed/sound

Do you have good compression? I had a similar thing with my GPZ900R. The bike became more and moredifficult to start until it wouldn't start at all unless I rolles it down a local hill.

I tried all the things that you listed and then checked the compression. The compression was down on all cylinders.

So, a quick check of the valve clearances showed them all to be tight (well known problem with the gpz) So, I adjusted the valves and with the cam cover still off pushed the starter. She fired instantly and showered me with oil. Ran perfectly from then on but they do need regular checking.

I have to say though that i've only adjusted the valves on my cbr once as they seem to keep their gap pretty well. Gotta be worth a shot though.

And whilst the top is off you can check the cam-timing.

well it was running with that battery before that is why i say the battery is good.

last night it was starting to hit but just wouldnt keep going.

if that makes sense it would start to go but then stop. would that be the cdi or the 2nd coil maybe?

i wanna say rule out the battery it is brand new so i have to check 2 and 3 but 4 i gotta get a cable

the battery will drain fast if keep clicking the starter button so many times..so what u gonna do, hook up the battery to manual charger and wait 15min. to charges, don't unplugged the charger and battery , when u press start apply choke first then press start apply a bit of gas..
