RE: Nail in Tire (Tyre)
I've not done a front tyre, only a rear, but if repair was the only alternative, I'd use a mushroom plug, fitted from inside the tyre.
I wouldn't use the normal puncture repair kit type rubber worm on a front tyre.
If it's had fair mileage, and you can afford a new one, buy another IMO.
Bad news, Napalm.........[X(]

RE: Nail in Tire (Tyre)
Thanks Fella's,
I plugged it with a "Plug Kit" that I purchased a few years ago.
Couldn't find the original Tools that came with the kit but, I did find the actual plug strips.
I ended up, using a small flat head screwdriver to get it though the belting.
Also, if you don't hear from me in a while, it apparently didn't work!

My Tires have a bit over 3k, BTW.
Thanks Shadow.

Always a pleasure, Mathis - the mushroom plug fits almost like a large, flathead mushroom, from inside the tyre, so the flathead distributes the pressure and the 'stem' goes in the hole. You have to get the tyre off one side of the rim to fit it though - best done at a bike shop.
I had a friend tell me he fixed a tyre with string and contact adhesive, and a screwdriver- covered the string in contact adhesive and shoved it in the hole.......put some air in it from one of those cans of goo you get for cars, and was away !
When you're really stuck, whatever gets you to a garage is good.....

RE: Nail in Tire (Tyre)
I have never repaired a tubeless ......ever..
I suppose if I had to get to a service station for a new tire or if I was out in the middle of no where I would plug the bugger ...but the front is sooooo important that I dunno how I would feel the next time I hit the gas up to any high speeds ?? hmmmm??
Just trying not to think of the thing up in the tire would get to me I recon mate

RE: Nail in Tire (Tyre)
I recently had a repair done on a rear tire. Two weeks old & they refused to plug it. As far as they were concerned plugs are unsafe???? yet they fitted a tube . I would feel a whole lot safer with a mushroom plug. According to the shop the inside of the tire has to be ground which can damage a cord. Either way a new tire after Christmas.
