This pic is from the side of the bike. you can see the header and the tube above it. Maybe this will help. Not a great picName: 100_4454.jpg

Yep, that looks like it's it. They go into the motor.... not the header. There should be 4 of them....one to each cylinder.
That must just be the older PAIR system. My bike is a 1995, and probably has significantly more "junk" attached to it...lol

BTW, here's what mine looked like "after". It's actually even cleaner now since I've cut even more bullchit out of it.....
(see the tubes in the very front of the motor? The ones with the bolts stuck in them? That's the other end of the tubes that go into the exhaust that you took a pic of)

How did you know what could go and what was important. I don't want to do all that work and have the bike run worse.

So my free bike looks like it may turn out to be a parts bike. After digging into it a little more I definitely have the Cali bike uuugh. I was thinking about just rebuilding the motor but the pistons alone look like their going for 600.00, and I don't really want all the Cali crap on the bike. I know I can plug the exhaust ports but theres still the carb inlets. I feel like if I start down the road I'm going to be in $3,000 before I can even ride it. I'm looking for a used non cali motor but am afraid of running into the same issues. Does anyone know what year motors will directly bolt into my frame? Any advice is really appreciated.
Thanks
Pat
