Default Mufflers - 4 2 1 OR 4 2 2 ?

I have noticed that some members Cane's have one muffler - mine has two. Is it just asthetic preference or is there a power issue?

I have the standard 4 into 2. I hate the sound of twin exhaust but from what I have read here on the forums it's the best for performance.

IMO the one muffler appearance looks better, but that is purely a personal choice thing. I also think the sound is better than a two muffler set up. I believe a true 4 to 1 header makes the most power. The other benefit of the one muffler set up is you lose a big chunk of fat off the bike when you pull the stock muffs!

I run 4 2 2 with 2" stainless pipes and balance tubes. With the shorter silencers it has a deep throaty rumble.....
IMHO the single pipe looks lopsided.

I was originaly looking to buy a CBR with a twin system on it 4-2-2 because i thought it looked better? , but when i went an looked at the bike i have now it was a single side 4-2-1 Laser K1 fitted and the sound it made won me over straight away, i think it is all down to what you personaly want at the end of the day.
