Manual cam chain tensioner

Manual cam chain tensioner
I can't seem to find one for a 95 CBR1000F and since I gather that the stock tensioner is junk I'd like to replace it with a manual one. I can find them for just about every other bike out there for $50 and everyone seems to be happy with them but none for my bike. Should I just try and make one? It looks simple enough but if someone knows where to get one for $50 I'd rather do that.
Thanks

RE: Manual cam chain tensioner
I've seen somewhere in other forums ( maybe this one) that the VFR750 manual tensioner is identical.
I believe I have one in mine (95 CBR1000F) that was installed prior to my bying it and it seems great. My other CBR1000F is an 87 model, and though it was replaced only 15,000 klms ago and I've cleaned it twice (helped each time for about 2000klms) it still sounds like two skeletons screwing in a rubbish bin.
Each time I cleaned it out, it sounded great for about 2000klms maybe, then slowly back it came. I change the oil frequently and only use Syn Oil so go figure.

RE: Manual cam chain tensioner
zeebee are you unsure if you have a manual tensioner on your 95? all the manual tensioners I've seen have a bolt sticking out of them so it seems like it would be easy to tell. I'm not currently experiencing any cam chain noise but I've heard that a properly adjusted manual tensioner will but less strain on the chain and it may last longer so I want to do it as preventative maintnance, since changing the cam chain sounds like a pain.
At what milage do you guys start running into problems with the cam chain tensioner and the cam chain? Also has anyone actually broken a cam chain? or dose everyone replace it when it starts making a racket? Maybee it's fine even if it's making noise?

RE: Manual cam chain tensioner
Duke, I can't be certain that it's mechanical, but the receipt I have from the previous owner lists it as a replacement of the hydraulic tensioner to a mechanical one. It cost the previous owner about A$750 to do the job. There is no external sign to indicate the presence of it.
I have the details of the mech who did the job, so I'll ask him and report back to you. I haven't been able to find the reference to the VFR750 manual tensioner, but there were some comparison photos on the site and they looked the same except one was spring loaded and the other hydraulic. I know little about VFR750's insides so I took it at face value.
It's certainly much better than the 87 insofar as engine noise goes. Though I have heard of peeples going for many klms with the noise without any issues, it would worry me. I guess they have better earplugs than I do
I guess if it really is serious, you would start to see metal in the filters. I used to open the filter with a can opener and layout the elements to look for metal parts. never found any.

Theres a bit of a write up on
https://cbrforum.com/m_97797/tm.htm
Apparently I DID get it wrong. It was a CBX750fe they were talking about just like Chris said
yeh yeh, I know, it's a different beast to the VFR750
