Looking for a cbr 1000f???
I was looking at bikes on craigslist and came across a 95 cbr 1000f with 35k for only $2500. Heres the site http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/mcy/588879348.html.

It looks good, but the photo's are not that clear. Are you close enough to go see it ? If not, I'd ask for many more photo's that are clear and sharp. I need to see all the details when I'm dealing with someone long distance. As for the mileage, I wouldn't give it too much thought (if it was taken care of). I met a guy in Fresno California with a 94 that had just over 120,000 miles (that's miles, not kilometers) on it. He was thinking of trading it in on something, but it just keeps on running.

Maybe you could ask BayAreaRider to look at it for you - I think he's from Frisco......? If it's a genuine 95, and the bike looks as good from personal inspection, I'd probably put an offer in. See how long he's owned it, there was a similar one on e-Bay about 3 weeks ago, sold to a Polish guy for a similar price, I think......

Okay either Craig's list themselves are posting fake ads to fill space. Like cycletrader does and if you don't believe that's true. Just search it for the best deals and start making the phone calls about 50% of the time you'll find either that person doesn't own a bike.the other50%they have sold the bike six or seven months before. For more money than the ad posted... here's the link to the same bike

Now, I'm talking about those urban legend kind of deals like the old story about the stingray up on blocks that belong to the poor soldier who died in Vietnam, and only put 500 miles on it before leaving only to never return. And the car was sold by his mother 500 bucks just search cycletrader for the most incredible deals and make the phone call. And then take the time and effort like I did to call cycle trader themselves and report it only to find it back in their next week

I googled the ad and found that this bike is also listed on the craig's list from Boston, New york and Miami, so something definately seems screwy. As for Craig's list padding their listings, I don't believe that's true since they are nonprofit and don't charge to post (plus they wouldn't have deleted two of my postings a couple of weeks ago if they did). But, people do use Craig's list to pull off scams all the time- that's why Craig's list tells their viewers to deal locally only.

Could it be that one of the salesmen at the bike shop (which it seems it is) has placed ads all over the place in the hope of attracting interest ? If so, a bit stupid as they have already had a bid at $2500, and didn't accept it. I think now, with all this, I'd maybe have a look at the DMV (dept of motor vehicles)and see who the owner is,or was, based on the engine number supplied - I know we can do it here, is it the same in the US ? Any idea what plate it's running on, maybe OHIO ?- may make the search easier. Good stuff , Hardcorp & PacoJoseph....!!
