Living With A Hurricane

Living With A Hurricane
Sorry, haven't been on much lately. Time is pretty tight with school, an hour a day in the gym, karate with our 10 y/o three nights a week, getting in riding time, and on and on. I'm tired!
Anywho, I'm about 6-weeks into owning my '93 Hurricane (Black Molly). I've put 860 miles on her (143 miles per week average) and getting a solid 45mpg.
To date I have:
I rode approx 250 miles over an 8 hour period with a GSXR1000 and GSXR750. I rode tail gunner all day, had no trouble keeping up with them. It was amazing watching these guys throw their bikes into curves and then realizing that I would be doing the same in just a few seconds.
I might wear a Depends next time!!
I'm very happy with Molly. She comfortable around town and very capable when pushed. What more can I ask? I can't think of any mods I'd make. I don't think handlebar risers are necessary for me, the seat is comfortable enough for an all day ride, and I'm definately not interested in performance mods. She just doesn't need it! Amazing bike, can't understand why it's not still in production.
Later!

It is amazing how well these 1000F's will stay with the pocket rockets if you are just a little determined ...and prepared to scrape a few things ..
The only places that I ever have trouble staying with them is on the really really tight hair pin bends ... Ours seem to be a little too long in the wheel base for some 20-30mph super tight bends and the pocket rockets just seem to be able to drop and point better around them with no trouble .. but I can live with that ...lol

Thanks guys. My riding buddies didn't seriously try to shake me, I'm sure they could have if they wanted since I'm only going to go as fast as I'm going to go anyway. I'll throw in the towel long before the bike does. I can't tell you how many cops we saw and I'm surprised we didn't get ticketed several times. Just dumb luck I guess. Mebbe I should ride with the cruiser clubs instead.
Our ride took us via backroads to St Mark's lighthouse http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Marks_Light south of Tallahassee FLA. Neat old place. Can't enter it though. Too bad. I'd have loved to look out over the bay.

I didn't reach 52 by acting the fool all of the time. As I age self-preservation becomes a stronger force!!
