Exclamation A little help firing up this Hurricane please?

Guys Im trying to get this 88 Hurricane to fire up and all the Starter Solenoid does is Click Click Click like its bad. But the guy I got it from told me that the old one went out a while ago and that the one on the bike was a new one.

Is there a way to fire up the bike with out the Starter Solenoid working? I know with an old Chevy you could just take a screw driver and bridge the two post but when I do that to this bike nothing happens.

Can anyone please help? I just want to see if she will run and what all I am looking at to get her on the road.

Howz the battery ? If you are bridging the posts (not sure what yourz looks like) you must have the ignition on to get it to start.

Bat is great, Ignition is on. Just try to bridge from post to post and get nothing. Push the Starter button and just get a Click everytime I push it.

Okay I just checked the voltage and I have 12.58v on the hot side and 12.57v on the cold side when I push the button. I really don't get it.

Try jumping it from another battery, these bikes need a lot of juice to start and at least it'll rule that out.

Question rock her

hey, just a suggestion but rock her in 2nd a few times to see if the starter is jammed

these girls need a GOOD battery to start, just off and they will either stay idle or not fire

good luck

Check the fuel pump relay. That was the culprit on mine. Not intuitive that its tied in with the ignition system. Where are you located?

Okay guys I got another starter in and its the same thing. I push the starter button, I have power all the way down the power cable to the starter but the starter does nothing.

I'm wondering how the starter is grounded? Maybe I'm missing a ground wire or something?

Will do but may I ask why? When I push the button the Starter Solenoid works when I push it. But the Starter doesnt fire over.
