Default ...a little help

I just bought a 1988 Hurricane 1000 and it has supertrapp mufflers installed. I started it and it is idling at 4000 rpms. What should the idle speed be for this bike? I have a stock exhaust and it will be getting installed soon. Damn it's loud. Thanks.

If the idle rpm were set to 4 k it would be almost impossible to drive the bike. It would jump 10 feet when the first gear is selected and it would be very difficult to make a slow 90-degree turn. I mean the idle could not have been set to 4 k by purpose. I would start to inspect the choke and throttle wires and clamps and search for the reason to the extreme idle. Cleaning the throttles and throttle bores may also help.

It doesjumpwhen I let out the clutch. I'm going to get it over to the Honda dealer this week before it gets to cold and have it tune up. Looking at the Supertrapp web site I see I should be able to lower the noise a bit too. Things are looking up good. Thansk for the replies.
