I've got one for a 93 and later bikes- I'm not sure if it's the same one as the 91 takes.

Not sure if it answeres your question but these guys list the 90 to 96 as having the same R/R

Yeah, I believe that the 87/88 was the only one that was different because it has different connectors.
Those electrex units are about as good as you're gonna get if you decide on a new one. It's gonna be my next purchase and my r/r is "fine". I just don't wanna get stuck a million miles from home with my stock r/r. They are a well known issue on these bikes. Not just these particular cbrs, but most models. Heck, most hondas for that matter. I've heard my magna has issues with the stock ones, too.

RR23 from electrex uk ! put one on my 90 in March ....... they are big meaty and
massive cooling fins .....recommend

EDIT :

The RR23 comes with a new plug with a slighty diff config and you cut out the old
6 pin plug and use theirs .........super simple .... just match wire for wire ..5 minutes

The midpoint plug from the stator should be pulled apart and cleaned , they are
usually corroded too

+1. Pics are thumbnail size. Looks like the connector is burnt up on the one side, tho.
