Unless you're a really hard-core with access to all the toys, the cheapest way to
make any substantial gains on your beastie is going to be sell it and buy a newer model.

Most of the HP mods etc are developed when the bike was current and it was as good as it got.
On a 25 year old, such as you're talking, it would almost be equivalent to
putting a 400HP V-10 Vortech in a Pinto. The chassis is going to need substantial
modding as well, to really make it worthwhile. By then you've dropped 2-3 grand (conservatively).

I don't want to truly discourage you, if that's your thing. Just be aware that the you'll never recover
your costs, except by brag rights and lots of saddle time, when you're done.

It's all relative to how much $$$ you want to throw at it - as anything is possible and
there is a point of diminishing returns unless you are filthy stinking rich

Sometimes I wish there was a Hollander's Interchange Manual for bikes.

All year engines are basically the same.

1. The California bikes had emissions that would need to be removed for extra power.

2. Some European markets used restricting carb boots to limit bike to 100HP.

I have no idea what to remove to lighten the bike other than going on a diet.

It's not the lobster's fault, it's the butter.
