I run 16/42 and its enough for me. Speedo runs about 12% higher. I personally wouldnt recommend going too low on the front as it does put quite abit of curvature stress on the chain. The F/S was only 30.00 bucks from the local bike shop. Took a bit of work gettign off the bolt that holds it on, but nothing a good air gun cant handle, and put some lock-tite on the new bolt threads. The original sprocket had a rubber damper buit into it, but the aftermarket one didnt.

thanks shadow, will probably just get a new one from my local performance shop or dealer. do i need a puller(gear) to get the sprocket off? does it have a key way, or is it splined, obviosly it has a center nut.... and should i replace anything else while im there, seals or anything like that? thanks, trying to learn all i can about my bike

ordered a 16 tooth for the front, keeping the 42 for the rear, but have not put it on yet. temps are 20F-50F right now, so the season is almost over here. it will be a winter project, when im not on my snowmobile. you guys will here from me when i do the job though, might need advise, still learning about my bike. thanks
